DESCRIPTION:
This package provides Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools for the supported
desktop models and operating systems.
Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools provides data security by enabling users
to encrypt an entire disk volume.
- Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools is designed to be compatible with HP
Backup and Recovery for system and file restoration. Use of third-party backup
and recovery solutions could result in incompatibility and data loss.
- Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools and Microsoft Bitlocker Drive Encryption
(available on Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise and
Ultimate Editions) should not be used together.

FIXES:
- Fixes an issue where the Drive Encryption warning message is hidden behind
the Software Setup Installation window.
- Fixes an issue where the version number shown in "Add/Remove Programs" and
the "Program Features" folder is incorrect.
- Corrects an issue where an incorrect error message is displayed during an
upgrade if the drive is already encrypted.
- Corrects a translation issue for the Simplified Chinese language.
- Corrects an issue where users had to click the Smart Card icon during preboot
in order to use the Smart Card feature when the Smart Card was the only
acceptable token. Now the Smart Card field is automatically the focus when a
Smart Card is the only available credential to log in.
- Corrects an issue where a UAC message is not displayed when a limited user is
uninstalling the Drive Encryption software.
- Corrects an intermittent issue where an 0x8651010E error is generated when
applying changes to Drive Encryption.
PREREQUISITES:
- HP ProtectTools Security Manager 5.00 must be installed before installing
this SoftPaq.
- If the harddrive is already encrypted, decrypt it before installing this
version of Drive Encryption.
- HP Compaq 6000 Pro, HP Compaq 6005 Pro, and HP Compaq 6000 Pro All-in-One PC
models require either the presence of an HP ProtectTools 5.00 CD, or a previous
version of Security Manager for HP ProtectTools 5.00 must already be installed
on the target system.
- Microsoft .NET 3.5 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) must be installed on the PC
before installing this SoftPaq.
- This package will not install in Russia due to import limitations.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. When downloading the file from the web, click the "Download" or "Obtain
Software" button and save the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note
of the folder where the downloaded file is saved). If using the HP ProtectTools
CD, skip to Step 2.
2. Double-click the downloaded file, or if you've already launched the SoftPaq
from the HP ProtectTools CD, click "Next" and follow the on-screen
instructions.
3. After the software installation is complete, reboot the PC.
