HP Notebook PCs - Touchpad Cursor Jumps While Typing

This document pertains to the Compaq and HP Mini 311/311c series notebook PC.
The cursor jumps or moves unexpectedly on the display when typing on the notebook. This extra movement is caused by the sensitivity of the touchpad. The sensitivity of the original touchpad driver cannot be adjusted or manually disabled.
Install updated BIOS and Touchpad driver
To resolve this issue on the specified models, download and install the latest ALPS Touchpad driver, and install the latest BIOS (F.14 or greater) . To search for the latest drivers, go to the HP Driver and Downloads web page and enter your specific model number.
After installing these updates, the touchpad will be automatically disabled while you are typing, and will become active when you place a finger firmly on the touchpad. Alternately, you can press the fn+f12 keys to disable the touchpad. Press the keys again to enable the touchpad.
