HP HotSpot LaserJet Pro M1218nfs MFP Series - Setting up the Printer as a HotSpot

Introduction
Enabling the HotSpot feature on your printer turns your printer into a Wi-Fi HotSpot that offers secure wireless Internet access for up to eight clients. The HotSpot feature supports the average day-to-day office activities (Internet browsing, emailing, file sharing, sending instant messages, etc.) for computers, smart phones, or tablets. It also allows you to print wirelessly from those devices through Direct Printing.
NOTE: Your HotSpot-enabled printer is not a full functional stand-alone router. It should not be used for tasks that generate heavy Internet traffic, such as P2P downloading and multiple concurrent video streaming. Actual network performance depends on upper Internet bandwidth and the type and number of applications being used.
This document provides steps to enable your HotSpot either during or after software installation when your printer is connected by a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection or a Dynamic or Static IP address with a router connection. Your printer supports these connection types.
Click the plus sign ( ) for more information.
What are PPPoE and Dynamic or Static IP address with a router connections?
